"Big Brother" wins nightly TV ratings despite drop (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (TheWrap) ? CBS' "Big Brother" was the top-rated show Thursday night, even with a significant drop from last week's season premiere, according to preliminary numbers.

With the summer slump in effect and most original programing taking a hit in the ratings, "Big Brother" at 9 p.m. drew a 2.3 rating/7 share in the adults 18-49 viewer group, down 18 percent versus last week, and 6.4 million total viewers. CBS' primetime roster otherwise consisted of repeats.

ABC experienced declines all around, with "Wipeout" at 8 p.m. dropping 10 percent with a 1.8 rating/7 share in the key demographic -- which still put it in second place -- and 6.3 million total viewers. The recently launched adventure competition "Expedition Impossible" the following hour plummeted 24 percent compared to last week, hitting a series low with a 1.3 rating/4 share in the demographic and 4.6 million total viewers.

ABC closed out the evening with the recently renewed "Rookie Blue" at 10 p.m., which was down 7 percent compared to last week with a 1.4 rating/4 share and 5.3 million total viewers.

At Fox, the "So You Think You Can Dance" performance episode at 8 p.m. slipped 6 percent, dropping to a 1.6 rating/6 share in the demographic with 5.2 million total viewers. The network capped the night with a "Glee" repeat.

NBC ran reruns throughout the night, with the exception of "Love Bites" at 10 p.m., which matched last week's series low with a 0.7 rating/2 share and 1.9 million total viewers.
