Two 787 planes will arrive in Japan on Monday (March 25th), with commercial flights set to begin four weeks later as the airline takes passengers to Boston, Bloomberg reported.
Confirming the delivery, JAL president Yoshiharu Ueki said: "We're grateful and delighted that delivery of our first 787 has been confirmed," the news provider quoted.
"Bookings for the Boston route next month are almost full."
Delivery of the two 787s will launch the arrival of a total 45 aircrafts that JAL currently has on order, with Boeing Dreamliners also lined up to join its fleet.
The 787s will boast a total of 42 business-class seats and a further 144 in economy class, while inflight entertainment includes over 30 Japanese comics available electronically.
Last week, Japanese travellers waved goodbye to the iconic 300-series bullet train as it was decommissioned to make way for newer models.
